Christine Imperial (they/she) is a writer, scholar, and poet based in Oakland, CA. A PhD student in Cultural Studies at UC Davis. Their debut book Mistaken for an Empire (Mad Creek Books, 2023) received the 2021 Gournay Prize. Their writing has been published or is forthcoming in FENCE, Meniscus, Dilettante Army, The Kenyon Review, POETRY, Poets & Writers, among others. She holds an MFA in Creative Writing from CalArts.
